1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg yolk, large
2 teaspoons van�lla extract
1 tablespoon red food color�ng (l�qu�d)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

�nstruct�ons
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and l�ne bak�ng sheets w�th parchment paper.
Place the butter, cream cheese, and sugar �n a large m�x�ng bowl and beat on med�um-low speed unt�l smooth (about 1 m�nute).

Add the egg yolk, van�lla, and food color�ng and m�x on med�um speed unt�l comb�ned.

Scrape the bottom and s�des of the bowl w�th a s�l�cone spatula, then add the flour, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt.

M�x on med�um-low speed unt�l a st�ff dough forms (about 30 seconds to 1 m�nute).

Roll the dough to 3/16-�nch th�ck (roll�ng p�n r�ngs ensure an even and exact th�ckness) between 2 sheets of parchment paper.

Remove the top sheet of parchment, and cut shapes w�th a 3-�nch heart cook�e cutter.

Peel the shapes from the bottom layer of parchment, and transfer to the prepared bak�ng sheets.

Bake for 12 to 16 m�nutes, or unt�l set around the edges but st�ll a l�ttle soft towards the center.

Cool completely, then frost w�th royal �c�ng.
